A lovely cast iron Victorian boot scrapper dating from the late 1800’s in original condition with great patina & still fully functional – Its has a very pretty ivy leaf pattern around the outer rim – Possibly been repainted a long time ago.
Such scrapers like this were necessary in the mid to late Victorian period when the number of horses used for transport increased. Convenient for removing mud & manure from the bottom of your shoe or boot, the scrapers admirably served their purpose for many years …… however still popular & handy today.
This would look great outside any period front or back door.
