Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759 – 1840) Fruit Lithographs
A painter and botanist from the Austrian Netherlands, known for his watercolours of roses, lilies & other flowers at the Chateau de Malmaison, many of which were published as large coloured stipple engravings – He was nicknamed “the Raphael of flowers” & has been called the greatest botanical illustrator of all time.
I have the most beautiful collection of Pierre-Joseph Redouté Lithographs taken from the books of Redouté’s Roses and Fruits & Flowers published between 1955 & 1959-these Lithographs were made from his original works created in the 19th century.
The plates were made & printed in Germany by K.G.Lohse and made into large books by Ariel Press.
