This is a fantastic Victorian Hot Water Can, manufactured in Wolverhampton in the mid to late 1800’s by the John Marston company.
In lovely original condition with rare ‘lacquerer’ finish.
It is stamped on the base with J.M and a number 40 (probably a pattern number) there is also a number 5 stamped in the middle of the base.
John Marston is probably best remembered as the manufacturer of Sunbeam bicycles, cars and motorbikes, but his talents were first put to use manufacturing metal domestic wares.
